Oh Look! A Whole Page About Me.

Aloha!

I’m Sarah Wooten.  I’m the head Misfit around here, and I am waaayyyy too excited to meet you.

EEEE!!!!!!

So, you’ve come here because you want to get to know me better?

SWEET - because I want to get to know you better too!  Why?

Probably because we are Misfit soulmates.

Where shall I start?

I’ve been married to an incredibly hot man for 13 years and we have three little Misfits.  And a Misfit dog.  We live in a 100 year old brick house that has creaky wood floors, high ceilings and devastatingly beautiful windows.  You can find usually find me hiding in the bathroom (because the children are coming to get me).  I love hiking, biking, singing, writing, reading, sushi, red wine, and House Hunter’s International.  And LOST. 4815162342

Up until age 28, my life was pretty textbook American ‘success’.  Graduated with honors from a high falootin’ college, got married, then graduated as a veterinary doctor from Davis, bought a big house, had a baby girl, put her in full time daycare and went to work full time at a ridunculously busy veterinary hospital.  Made a pile of money and spent it all on my gynormous mortgage and car payments.

I had 'everything' and yet I was so, so unhappy.

In 2003 I had a breakdown, I mean Spiritual Awakening, and as a result, we sold the house, sold 75% of our stuff and traveled 80 miles west to Mill Valley, CA where my hot husband, baby girl and I moved into an archaic 2 bedroom seminary apartment.  Hubby went to school, I went to work parttime, we paid off the cars, had very little and were happy...er.

I spent a year hiking the Marin coastline, communing with lonely stretches of fog shrouded beach and silent redwood forests.  I slowed down.  I sat for a moment in silence and when I did, I heard my soul.  She was scared and lonely, and wanted to talk.  So I started listening.  And learning.

Fast forward to today.

We moved to Colorado.  I've had two more very busy, incredibly Misfit children.  I'm not kidding:  those of you who have met Aricin and Kael know.  I've quit full time practice forever and now only choose work one or two days a month to keep my skills up.  I write for a living, and actually do it quite well.

Now I walk to my own drumbeat instead of trying to match my rhythm to others.  I have reclaimed my orphaned soul and remembered what makes her sing.  I have connected more deeply to God and to the people that I care about.

And that means you.  Hi there.  Nice to meet you.

Define yourself in a ridiculously small number of words.

Me and my hot husband, Aaron.

Introvert in disguise.  Notoriously bad with conflict (working on it). Genuine. Seeker. Maverick. Oddball, funny, smart, loyal, vacillates between scared and bravery ~ you could call it scavery.

Things I believe in.

God.  God is so, so, so real.  God is so much bigger than we have made God out to be (I believe God is beyond the limitations of human gender and encompasses both masculine and feminine qualities.  Shekinah glory, anyone?)  God is active and wants to communicate to us delight, love, and victory.

Love.  Love changes everything.  Love is radical.  And it’s inside you which is so AWESOME because it is there when you need it.

Souls.  Everyone has one, and I believe we all possess the ability to get to know ourselves and like ourselves, even with all the baggage.

Authenticity.  I've spent most of my life hiding and trying to fit in.  Now I'm kinda done with that.

Savoring life.  This ride is a good one.

Things I don’t believe in.

Charlie Sheen.

Things I don’t believe in but wish I did.

Unicorns and Progesterone cream.  I haven’t had much success with either, dangit.

One thing you might not know about me.

I’ve ridden a camel through Petra.

One thing you probably don’t want to know.

I delivered my second son au natural.  No pain meds, naked and unashamed.  I felt like a goddess.

One thing no one should know.

I once neutered 20 cats in 30 minutes.  Cat testicles can stick to walls.  I warned you.

What are your boring credentials?

Ho hum..if you must know, here is the veterinary stuff:

What else?

Well, I have been active in worship ministry for 13 years, and have been leading worship for the past 4 years.  We have a band:  Kidron’s Crossing.

I run my own corporation.

I have managed a 29 unit apartment building and own profitable rental properties of my own.

I have renovated a 100 year old home, transforming it from a dingy college rental into a beautiful family home.  There is blood, sweat, and tears up in this joint, yo.

I have three beautiful children, one of which has special needs.

I have traveled a decent amount of the planet Earth. I love, love, love the Caribbean.  When I die, scatter my ashes in the warm waters of the Yucatan Peninsula.

I love my friends.  My tribe of Misfit women - you inspire me.

Oh my goshness, what else?

Basically...I know and do a lot of stuff.  I've made a lot of mistakes, and I've done some things right.  I made this website to empower and inspire you to connect with your own Sacred Misfit and help you make your dreams come true.

OMG.  I can’t believe you read all the way to the bottom of my ridunculously long bio page.

LOVVVEEE TO YOU!!!!
